Getting Away

puffy clouds from the car on our drive home

Yesterday we got away.

We packed up the car and drove the 8 hours from our home in Missouri to my husband's hometown in Ohio.

And it feels good to be disconnected. To have put the "out of office" message on my email at work. To spend some uninterrupted, un-distracted time with those we love.

Some use the summer for family vacations. Some spend quiet time in the garden. Some find a glass of cold lemonade on the back porch is enough to take them away.

How do you get away when you need some disconnection time? Time spent away from the computer and deadlines and un-returned emails-- time spent connected with family and friends and in quiet prayer and reflection.

I pray that however you find it and in whatever ways you need it, you can carve out of some to get away. Even if it's just for a little while. Oh how it does the soul so good!
